In an effort to help our members submit their news to local media outlets, The Joplin Globe has created a press release submission form for Member's use.  The form is very simple to fill out and your news will be delivered to the media outlets selected with all of your information.  The form even has a spot to select the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce, so you will be sure to let the Chamber know about your news for publication in our Business Outlook.  Below are some pointers from The Joplin Globe to keep in mind before submitting your information.

Submitting a press release

Before writing a press release or submitting the information below, consider the following questions:

  • Is this newsworthy?
  • Is the news of interest to "insiders" only or does it have a wider appeal?
  • Is this better suited for a direct-mail piece or advertising, a letter or memo to the people involved, or an item in your company newsletter?
If a press release makes sense, consider the following suggestions:

  • Write clearly and get to the point early.
  • Keep your release as short as possible.
  • Lead with news not advertising.
  • After sending the release, follow up with a phone call or a note.
  • Editors make the final decision on what is published based on a variety of factors.
  • If your information is not published this time, please continue to submit.
