2017 Golden Apple:

Each year teachers in Joplin's public and private schools are nominated by students, parents and peers for their excellence in teaching. Only four teachers are chosen, one in each of the following categories: K-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12.

K-2nd: Monica Bay, Jefferson Elementary School
3rd-5th: Christina Elledge, Jefferson Elementary School
6th-8th: Kristopher Dishman, North Middle School
9th-12th: Chris Nash, Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School

Small Business of the Year:

This award recognizes the importance of small business to the economy, job growth and new products and services. Each year, three businesses are chosen, one in each of the following categories:
1-10 Employees, 11-50 Employees and Not-for-Profit.

Outstanding Citizen of the Year:

Each year one Outstanding Citizen is chosen by the past Chairmen of the Board, based upon their commitment to the Joplin community.

The 2017 Outstanding Citizen of the Year is DR. LARRY MCINTIRE, with Kansas City University and in private practice.
