Local chambers are rated Accredited, 3-Stars, 4-Stars or 5-Stars by the U.S. Chamber. The final determination is made by the Accrediting Board, a committee of U.S. Chamber board members.

Of the 7,077 chambers in the United States, 204 are accredited. These elite chambers represent the top three percent of all chambers in the U.S. Sixteen chambers are accredited. Thirty chambers are 3-Star, 73 chambers are 4-Star and 82 chambers, or 41 percent, are 5-Star.

Accreditation is the only national program that recognizes chambers for their effective organizational procedures and community involvement. In order to receive accreditation, a Chamber must meet minimum standards in its operations and programs, including areas of governance, government affairs, communications and technology. This extensive self-review can take three to six months to complete and is a joint effort between staff and more than 40 volunteers. Volunteers give unique insight into Chamber programs, events and services. It is their valuable input that helps form new programs and enhances existing programs to meet the ever-changing needs of our Membership.
